Frida Kahlo

Make the Best out of the worst situations!

ArtKoffer’s Goal:
To explore Frida Kahlo’s life and legacy through her most iconic works. Following a devastating bus accident, Kahlo turned to painting as a means of coping with her pain. Through her art, she became one of the most influential female artists in history.

ArtKoffer’s Message:
Let’s find strength even in the most challenging situations! Frida Kahlo dreamed of becoming a doctor, but at 18, a tragic accident changed her life forever. Unable to fully recover, she found a new path in painting, using a special easel during her long periods of bed rest. Despite her struggles, she gained international recognition—her first solo exhibition was held during her lifetime, and she famously attended it while lying on a stretcher. Through her resilience, she transformed tragedy into triumph, and her name remains widely recognized today. With her striking appearance and unique personality, she even set fashion trends.

This workshop focuses on finding beauty and resilience in adversity, just as Kahlo did. Her final painting carries a powerful message: Viva la Vida!

Frida’s Mexican heritage played a vital role in her art, so we will also explore the richness of Mexican culture and traditional folk attire through interactive activities.
